The Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin La Grande Dame 1998 is a champagne made from 64% Pinot Noir and 36% Chardonnay. It is crystal clear with a pale gold color and shimmers of jade. Unbelievably fine bubbles in the glass. The typical Chardonnay characteristics is present on the nose at first. Later the aromas of acacia, ferns and chalky mineral. Softly shaking the glass, scents of candied citrus fruits, apricots and sweet almond emerge. Rotating a few minutes more and rare notes of peaty malt, tobacco and delicate herbs are unveiled. The same aromatic and complex bouquet is confirmed on the palate. Rich and refreshing. It’s pure, perfectly balanced with a delightful silky smoothness. It holds a long, lively and glorious finish.
