Bearing the name of the vineyard from which is was produced Quintessa is created to represent the best of the grapes grown at this Napa Valley vineyard whose philosophy is to manage the soil, the environment its produce according to strict criteria and using only organic, sustainable and bio-dynamic practice and procedures.
The varietals that are skilfully grown and which are chosen to be blended in order to create Quintessa are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenere.
The precious grapes from each block are harvested sorted and fermented separately in either oak or stainless steel tanks and each wine is then aged for up to 24 months in French Oak barrels which are stored in their own cool, dark caves.
Only after aging are the wines brought together and the final Quintessa skilfully and harmoniously blended, each vintage created for its delicious flavors and for its balance. These highly prized bottles are then laid down and rested for a further 12 months.
Quintessa 2012 is an exceptional vintage, weather conditions in the area during the growing season were perfect for each grape varietal to come to fruition perfectly. This wine is seamless and utterly enticing.
Garnet red, the heady scent of wild violets mingles wonderfully with the aromas of red and black hedgerow fruit. The palate is rich and concentrated. The mouth feel soft and smooth, bountiful with the flavors of dark summer fruits, black plums, blueberry and blackberries. The finish is elegant and graceful with delightfully well balanced and plentiful tannins.
