The Pinot Grigio owes its name to the gray rosy colour of its berries; born from a mutation of Pinot Noir, it keeps intact almost all its peculiarities. Santa Margherita, a great Venetian company present for eighty years in the Italian wine scene, was the first to vinify its grapes in white, a process by which, as the must is not in contact with the skins, the wine will be white. Very popular in the '80s but considered an undemanding wine, Pinot Grigio has now become synonymous with quality wine, thanks to its very elegant and refined aromatic profile and its great versatility.
